Swordsmaster

Description:
As I trying to come up with a new archetype in another custom card group, a few ideas came to my mind. One of those ideas included [the monsters] having a common effect of inflicting piercing battle damage, and someone else recommended for that to be true for this archetype. The archetype has an offensive outlook, and can force opposing monsters into Defense Position for the purpose of battling. I usually leave these in Attack Position so that they're always prepared for battle.

Level 4 EARTH Warrior Effect Monster
If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage. Gains 100 ATK for each other "Swordsmaster" monster you control. If a Defense Position monster your opponent controls is changed to face-up Attack Position: You can Special Summon this card from your hand in face-up Attack Position. If this card is Special Summoned: Target 1 Attack Position monster your opponent controls; change it to face-up Defense Position.

Level 4 EARTH Warrior/Effect Monster
If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage. Gains 100 ATK for each "Swordsmaster" monster you control. If this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 "Swordsmaster" monster from your hand, then if your opponent controls more monsters than you do, you can Special Summon 1 "Swordsmaster" monster from your Deck.

If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage. Gains 100 ATK for each "Swordsmaster" monster you control. Activate this card if you control no monsters: Special Summon 1 "Swordsmaster" monster from your Deck, but it has its effects negated, and target it with this card. When this card leaves the field, destroy that target. When that target leaves the field, destroy this card. You can only activate 1 "Swordsmaster's Beckoning" per turn.

When an attack is declared involving a "Swordsmaster" monster you control and an opponent's monster: That monster you control gains ATK equal to the DEF of the opponent's monster, until the end of the Damage Step. You can only activate 1 "Swordsmaster's Guidance" per turn. When an Attack Position "Swordsmaster" monster you control is targeted for an attack while this card is in your GY: You can banish this card; Change that Attack Position monster to face-up Defense Position.

Winged Swordsmaster's Flight
Continuous Trap
Defense Position monsters your opponent controls cannot change their battle position. "Swordsmaster" monsters you control cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects. Once per turn, when a Spell, Trap, or Spell/Trap effect targets a "Swordsmaster" monster(s) you control: You can return 1 of those targets to the hand, then you can Special Summon 1 monster from your hand with a different name than the returned monster.

Additional Remarks

Advantages:

* Can swarm the field easily for Xyz Summons.
* Most monsters have lower DEF than ATK, and the position-changing abilities of these cards can take advantage of that.

Disadvantages:

* Lacks card removal, and is therefore very susceptible to:
  * Battle Traps
  * Monsters that are indestructible by battle
  * Established boards that are efficiently upkept

4/12/2018: Changed "Winged Swordsmaster's Advantage" to have the user require an actual advantage
3/15/2023: Completely reworked the archetype, and gave Genghis a HOpT on his float.
